Scope Of Work

The project consisted of the design and construction of a four-lane divided public road along the east side of the expanded airport boundary. To accommodate airport expansion, the new roadway now serves as the primary north-south access for the east side development area and is from Ohio Avenue to Hillsborough Avenue approximately 100 feet west of Hesperides Street. The 1.7 mile Cargo Road was developed as an upgrade replacement road for that section of Westshore Boulevard located south of Hillsborough Avenue. Tierra provided geotechnical (i.e. soils and groundwater) input to the design team to assist in the design of the proposed roadway construction. The services concentrated on the roadway, ponds, signals and CCTV pole.

In addition, Tierra provided Contractor Quality Control (CQC) field and laboratory testing for the roadway.  Field work included providing a CTQP certified inspector for soil, concrete and asphalt testing.  Our inspector was responsible for inspecting and testing during concrete placement for curbs, sidewalks and drainage structures; and roadway stabilized subgrade and base.  Laboratory testing included soil classifications, Proctors, LBRs, soil corrosion properties and asphalt and concrete testing in accordance with City of Tampa standards.
